Icarus Ensemble travels to Trieste for the academic conference “Beyond the Avant-Garde” and the concert “A Cathartic Freedom”, featuring the performance of “Demons and Night Phantoms of the Pearl City” (1999), a psychomusical work based on drawings by Alfred Kubin and texts by Kubin, Goethe, and Trakl.
The performance will feature the Icarus Ensemble conducted by Adriano Martinolli d’Arcy, soprano Manuela Kriščak, actor Maurizio Zacchigna as narrator, and Marco Pedrazzini in charge of sound direction.
Guests of the conference include several contemporary music scholars and experts on Coral’s work, such as Professor Monica Verzàr Coral, author of “Giampaolo Coral: Confronting the Shadow”, who will deliver the institutional welcome.
Reflections on various aspects of Coral’s oeuvre will be offered by scholars from advanced institutions in the arts and music: Mauro Rossi, Corrado Rojac, Renzo Cresti, Ingrid Pustijanac, Adriano Martinolli d’Arcy, Paolo Somigli, Roberto Calabretto, Luca Pfaff, and Ivano Cavallini, organizer of the event.
