Flashmob – Orazi e Curazi

Horatii and Curiatii recounts one of the oldest myths in the history of Rome — the duel between the champions of two cities at war with each other, Rome and Alba Longa, to settle their bloody rivalry. The Horatii were representatives of one of the families that led Rome — then little more than a village — in the days following its foundation, while the Curiatii were the champions of its nearby rival, Alba Longa.

The score develops the idea of a narration, with real and imaginary sounds blended into an inseparable amalgam of theatre and music. Using both concrete and metaphysical sounds — bodies and voices, the timbre and rhythm of percussion — the two performers create a dramaturgy of the fantastic, linked to a myth particularly dear to Battistelli, who was born near the place where the archetypal combat is said to have taken place.
