Orazi e Curiazi tells one of the oldest myths in Roman history, the duel between the champions of two cities at war with each other, Rome and Alba Longa, to resolve the bloody rivalry. The Orazi were the representatives of one of the families that led Rome, just a village in the days following its foundation, while the Curiazi were the champions of the neighboring rival Alba Longa.
The score develops the idea of a narrative, with real and imaginary sounds blended into an inseparable amalgamation of theater and music. Using concrete and metaphysical sounds, bodies and voices, the timbre and rhythm of percussion, the two performers create a dramaturgy of the fantastic tied to a myth particularly dear to Battistelli, born near the site where the archetypal battle would take place.
