It is well known that Tosca\u2019s story ends in suicide. But in this version, we imagine that she survives, turning the original finale into the beginning of a new narrative. Floria is reimagined as a contemporary woman, the victim of both physical and psychological trauma, carrying within her a complex and disturbed emotional world\u2014far removed from traditional operatic portrayals of femininity. Her past is filled with painful memories (including, possibly, an incarnation of Scarpia), while her present is marked by depressive episodes, anxiety, and psychic projections of her fragmented identity. And yet, her journey also involves a therapeutic process of sharing with others who carry similar wounds\u2014a path that gradually restores her sense of balance and trust. These various emotional emergencies are embodied by four vocal performers, taking on multiple roles as well as the function of a chorus.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAt the London premiere of Tosca, a reviewer noted that when Puccini \u2018wants to be more intense, he resorts to some irritating noise\u2014much sound with little musical sense. In the second act, the music seems to interfere with the dramatic situation.\u2019 The noise that marks certain episodes in Tosca became one of the conceptual triggers for my original score\u2014a sonic and timbral exploration made possible and enhanced by contemporary musical language.<\/em><br \/><em>The original materials, inspired by Puccini\u2019s notion of \u2018noise,\u2019 form a new formal and linguistic framework where memories, psychic projections, shock, and trauma are given musical shape, along with the characters\u2019 altered and complex emotional states.<\/em><br \/><em>All of it is aimed at shaping a new, contemporary female figure.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">\u2014Virginia Guastella<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner row_inner_height_percent=&#8221;0&#8243;
